About the course
This undergraduate extension specialisation builds on knowledge from the Civil Engineering major, developing advanced capability in water and wastewater engineering management and environmental considerations in engineering development. You’ll cover hydraulic principles and structures, water distribution and wastewater collection networks, flood estimation and management, and surface and groundwater flow and quality. The specialisation also addresses solid and hazardous waste, plus air quality and pollution control in civil engineering practice.
Career outcome
Graduates can strengthen their pathway into civil and water-sector roles that involve planning, design and management of water and wastewater infrastructure and addressing environmental impacts of engineering projects. Typical work settings include water utilities, consulting engineering firms, local and state government, and environmental regulators. Roles may relate to water and wastewater networks, flood and stormwater management, groundwater and contamination assessment, and waste and pollution control within civil engineering projects.
