About the course

This professional certificate develops management, coaching and leadership capabilities to help participants guide innovation projects and progress their careers. It covers strategic and operational considerations for creating innovative products and services and builds the leadership skills required to guide teams. Participants apply a human-centred design approach to an innovation project, refining a brief, conducting research and interviews, generating insights, defining a problem statement, and pitching a proposal.

What you might learn

Students will learn how to lead innovation initiatives by combining practical human-centred design methods with strategic thinking about product and service development. They will develop core leadership capabilities across adaptive leadership, authentic leadership, innovation leadership and coaching, and practise applying these frameworks in real project contexts. The course aims to build confidence to act as a leader who can guide teams through ambiguity and deliver compelling innovation proposals.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles supporting or leading innovation and change initiatives within organisations, including innovation project lead or coordinator positions. The skills are applicable across industries where new product/service development, customer experience design and transformation programs are priorities. Participants may progress into leadership pathways that involve coaching teams, facilitating design-led problem solving and pitching innovation proposals to stakeholders.
