About the course
English for Tertiary Studies (ETS12) is a 12-week, on-campus English language program designed to build the academic English needed for tertiary study. It can help eligible students meet UOW entry requirements and progress to many diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate courses without sitting IELTS. You’ll develop study skills, academic research skills, and essay writing through 20–22 hours of weekly classroom tuition at UOW College’s English Language Centre. The programme develops education knowledge and teaching-related skills aligned with its qualification level.
Career outcome
This program is designed as a pathway to further study rather than direct employment. It strengthens academic English and study capabilities for learning in an Australian tertiary environment, supporting progression to UOW College diplomas or UOW undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Skills developed (academic reading, writing, research and communication) can also support future study-related roles and workplace communication where strong English literacy is required in English & Modern Languages contexts.
