About the course
This English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 1 Standard course develops academic English for students planning to study at QUT. You build skills in writing essays and reports, note-taking and referencing, research using library and online sources, and speaking confidently in academic contexts. Delivered on campus with small classes and extra support, it also helps you adjust to study in an Australian university environment in English & Modern Languages at a non-award level. The programme develops education knowledge and teaching-related skills aligned with its qualification level.
Career outcome
EAP 1 Standard is a preparatory English language program rather than a direct career qualification. It supports progression into QUT College Foundation, Diploma, or EAP 2, and helps you meet English entry requirements for further tertiary study. By strengthening academic writing, research, and presentation skills, it can improve readiness for study-related roles and professional communication in English-speaking academic and workplace settings in English & Modern Languages at a non-award level.
