About the course
This undergraduate Asian Studies specialisation builds understanding of Asia-focused research and how area knowledge is applied in workplace and business contexts across the region. You will develop reflective approaches to investigating Asia-related issues and perspectives, while gaining an introduction to Mandarin Chinese and Japanese language at elementary level. Study also covers China and Japan’s economic growth and social transformation, including development pathways, politics, society, environment and regional tensions.
Career outcome
Graduates can add Asia-focused capability to a wide range of degrees, strengthening employability in organisations working with Asian markets, communities or policy settings. The specialisation supports roles that benefit from regional knowledge and basic language skills, such as business and trade support, government and policy assistance, community and cultural liaison, education and international engagement, or research and analyst support. It is designed to complement an undergraduate degree in Arts & Humanities.
