About the course
This paid internship pathway lets you earn a Master of Teaching (Secondary) while working in a Victorian secondary school and learning on the job. You develop specialist knowledge in two curriculum areas, supported by experienced educators, mentor teachers and clinical specialists. The course combines an on-campus January intensive with ongoing practical, school-based learning to prepare you to support the needs of diverse students.
What you might learn
Students build the knowledge and practical capability to teach across all secondary years and to qualify in two learning areas. The course develops evidence-based teaching practice by integrating current education research with real classroom experience, including strategies for safe learning environments and positive behaviour support. It also aims to strengthen inclusive practice through understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and designing learning activities that meet varied learner needs.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to work as secondary school teachers across Victorian secondary year levels and to pursue registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Career opportunities are primarily in government and non-government secondary schools, teaching in two curriculum/learning areas aligned to the program structure. The internship model provides substantial in-school experience that supports transition into classroom teaching roles upon graduation.
Entry requirements
IELTS 7.0: with speaking and listening 7.5 and no other band less than 7.0. Access Melbourne is available.
