About the course
Deakin’s Master of Teaching (Primary) prepares graduates to teach children from Prep to Year 6 through practice-focused study and professional experience. You will build skills in communication, inclusive and culturally responsive teaching, and strategies that support learner wellbeing in modern digital classrooms. The course includes at least 60 days of professional placement and completion of the Deakin Teaching Performance Assessment to graduate classroom-ready as a master-level primary educator.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to work as primary school teachers in Australian and international settings, with experience gained through supervised professional placements. The course develops capability to plan and deliver engaging learning, support student wellbeing, and build positive classroom relationships in diverse school communities. It also supports progression into education leadership, wellbeing-focused roles, and broader learning-support positions within primary education as a master-level teaching qualification.
