About the course
Deakin’s Master of Speech Pathology is a professional entry-to-practice degree delivered at the Geelong Waterfront campus. You’ll develop knowledge and practical skills to support people of all ages with communication or swallowing difficulties, with strong emphasis on disability-informed practice. Learning is hands-on and case based, includes simulation and extensive supervised placements, and builds research literacy and interprofessional teamwork for contemporary speech pathology practice at master’s level.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue speech pathology roles across health, disability, community and education settings, supporting clients with speech, language, communication and swallowing needs. The course’s placement and simulation experiences prepare you for supervised-to-independent practice and culturally responsive care, including work with complex communication needs and deaf communities. Career pathways include work in hospitals, community health, rehabilitation, disability services, schools and private practice as a qualified speech pathologist at master’s level.
