About the course

This master’s degree deepens your understanding of environmental science and policy, building on prior study with advanced research and professional skills. You will investigate and synthesise complex environmental issues while developing awareness of ethical, social, economic and cultural considerations in a global context. Coursework and major research projects address current industry and societal challenges and can support progression to further research study or employment in environmental fields.

Career outcome

Graduates can work across environmental management, policy and science roles in government, consulting and industry. The course supports careers such as environmental scientist, environmental protection officer, water policy officer, contaminated land scientist, project or research officer, and senior planning or natural resource policy manager. Employers may include government agencies, engineering and consulting firms, international NGOs and private companies involved in long-term planning for tourism, mining and development.

Entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, or with a major in environmental science, or a closely related discipline.
