About the course
Designed for students with a chemistry-rich background, this Master of Science (Chemistry) builds advanced chemistry knowledge alongside research and professional skills. You’ll develop the ability to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information and apply ethical and professional judgement. Coursework and projects address contemporary industry and societal issues, supporting pathways into further research study or chemistry-related employment in a global context.
Career outcome
Graduates may work as analysts or research chemists across sectors such as wine, pharmaceuticals, paints, mining, petroleum and automotive industries. Roles can include analytical, industrial, development or forensic chemist, laboratory scientist/technician, graduate research officer, project officer or research scientist. The Master of Science (Chemistry) also supports progression into higher research degrees in the chemical sciences. Preparing graduates for research scientist, laboratory leadership, and specialist technical roles in the sciences.
Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a bachelor degree or equivalent with a major in chemistry or a closely related discipline. The Master of Science is not available to students who hold an honours degree in the same discipline.
