About the course
Flinders’ Master of Science (Aquaculture) builds advanced knowledge of aquaculture principles and practices, spanning nutrition, water quality, reproduction, genetics, husbandry, health management and disease control. You’ll learn through applied coursework, practical laboratory and aquaria work, and industry-informed teaching. The program includes flexible electives and an industrial work placement, supported by links with South Australian aquaculture industries and research partners in aquaculture science.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across aquaculture systems and technology, health and genetics, and production operations. Career paths include aquaculture development officer, consultant, research scientist or aquarist, as well as farm, hatchery, laboratory or technical management positions. The degree also supports specialist roles in nutrition, health management or genetics and work with industry and government agencies in aquaculture and fisheries management at the masters level. Preparing graduates for research scientist, laboratory leadership, and specialist technical roles in the sciences.
