About the course

Turn an existing undergraduate degree into an accounting career with JCU’s fully accredited Master of Professional Accounting. You’ll build core professional knowledge and practical skills needed for contemporary accounting roles, with flexible study options designed to support career changers. Study is delivered on campus at JCU Brisbane with multiple intakes across the year in a Masters coursework programme in Accounting & Finance. The programme strengthens financial analysis, governance, audit, and investment decision-making for professional finance careers.

What you might learn

When you study the Master of Professional Accounting at JCU, you will learn all the skills that accountancy employers look for and gain a thorough understanding of the field of accounting. You will learn about management, corporate finance, auditing, business and taxation law, economics for sustainability, data analysis and more. You’ll learn about different issues in accounting and how to evaluate various practices. You will graduate with an understanding of historical and contemporary perspectives and with the professional judgement you need to succeed in your career.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue professional accounting roles across public practice, corporate and government settings. Typical pathways include financial accountant, management accountant, assistant auditor, business analyst, taxation or payroll roles, and broader finance and reporting positions supporting decision-making and compliance. The degree is designed to help career changers move into the accounting profession through a Masters coursework qualification in Accounting & Finance. Preparing graduates for accounting, audit, financial analysis, and corporate finance leadership roles.

Entry requirements

AQF level 7 bachelor degree in non-accounting discipline; or equivalent.
