About the course
The Master of Philosophy (SMAH) in UOW’s Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health is a research degree that lets you undertake independent, supervised research and produce a substantial thesis. You can pursue a project in areas including biological sciences, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, health science, medicine or nursing, building advanced research capability and scholarly communication. This is a Masters by research in the sciences and health disciplines.
Career outcome
Graduates develop advanced research and analytical skills suited to roles requiring evidence-based inquiry and project leadership. Pathways include research assistant or officer roles, laboratory and scientific research positions, health and clinical research support, environmental and earth science research, and progression to a PhD. Skills gained are applicable across universities, government agencies, hospitals and research institutes. This is a Masters by research in sciences and health. Preparing graduates for scientific research, R&D leadership, and doctoral study in the sciences.
