About the course
The Master of Philosophy (Medicine) is a postgraduate research degree that combines structured research training coursework with a substantial supervised research project. You will develop a project in areas such as epidemiology, basic science or clinical research and complete a thesis (or equivalent) examined by external examiners. The course supports candidates balancing study with employment and builds Notre Dame’s research capability in medicine. The programme advances health sciences research through evidence-based inquiry, clinical context, and supervised thesis development.
Career outcome
Graduates gain advanced research training and experience designing, conducting and communicating an independent medical research project, supported by formal coursework in research methods and scholarly writing. The degree can support pathways into research assistant and research officer roles, clinical research coordination, health and medical research in universities, hospitals and industry, and progression to further higher degree research study in medicine.
