About the course
This Master of Philosophy (Mechanical Engineering) is a higher degree by research that builds advanced capability beyond honours or postgraduate diploma level through a substantial research thesis completed under supervision. The program is primarily research-focused, with limited coursework where required, and develops independent research skills and original contribution to knowledge. It can also provide a pathway to PhD consideration in mechanical engineering.
What you might learn
You’ll develop advanced theoretical mastery and critical reflection, and learn to investigate and synthesise complex engineering problems and concepts. You’ll generate and evaluate abstract ideas, design and apply appropriate research methods, and communicate research plans and findings to specialist and general audiences. The course culminates in producing and disseminating original research that contributes to knowledge and/or professional practice in mechanical engineering.
