About the course
The Master of Philosophy (Indigenous) is a higher degree by research that supports capable students to undertake an independent thesis focused on Indigenous knowledges, communities and priorities. You will work with experienced supervisors in JCU’s Indigenous Education & Research Centre and develop advanced research capability, ethics and methodology to produce an original contribution. This is a Masters (Research) qualification in Arts & Humanities. The programme emphasises independent research, methodology, and thesis development aligned with the discipline's scholarly standards.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue research and policy roles across Indigenous organisations, education and research centres, government and community agencies, or continue to doctoral study. The degree builds capability in designing and conducting research, analysing evidence and communicating findings to diverse audiences, supporting work in advocacy, program evaluation and community-led projects. This is a Masters (Research) pathway in Arts & Humanities. Preparing graduates for specialist research careers, professional practice, and doctoral study in the field.
