About the course
The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in the Faculty of Business and Law (Law) is a postgraduate research degree that builds advanced research capability through a combination of research training and a substantial thesis. You complete research coursework early in the program and then independently plan and deliver an original research project under a supervisory team, producing a thesis of around 40,000 words (or equivalent). This is a Masters by research in Law.

Graduates develop strong research design, analysis and academic writing skills suited to roles requiring independent inquiry and evidence-based judgment. Outcomes typically include pathways to PhD study, research assistant and policy/research roles in government and NGOs, and analytical positions in legal practice, compliance, regulation and advisory work.
