About the course

Deakin’s Master of Mental Health Nursing builds advanced knowledge and practical capability for nurses working with consumers, carers and supporters across community and inpatient settings. Study holistic assessment, major mental health conditions, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches, and therapeutic and pharmacological interventions. Delivered online and part-time, you can tailor your pathway via coursework electives or a thesis stream to support leadership or research goals in mental health nursing.

Career outcome

Graduates can advance into senior clinical mental health nursing roles and contribute to improved care across multidisciplinary services. The course supports progression into leadership, education and practice-development positions in community and inpatient settings, and can also prepare you to pursue research-focused work through the thesis stream. Career directions commonly align with specialist mental health nursing practice, service improvement and evidence-informed care in mental health nursing.
