About the course

This course builds specialist knowledge in international relations and security studies for roles supporting national and global security decision-making. You’ll develop critical thinking and leadership capability while studying strategy, policymaking, intelligence and law enforcement, plus contemporary issues such as climate security, disinformation, cyber power and emerging technologies. The program culminates with a work placement or research project/dissertation in international security at master’s level.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue roles across defence, foreign affairs, intelligence and law enforcement, applying security analysis and policy skills in government and related sectors. Career paths can include strategic or defence policy analyst, foreign policy officer, intelligence officer, diplomatic adviser, defence capability/procurement officer, risk management consultant and cybersecurity analyst. This prepares you for professional practice in international security and related public-sector industries at master’s level.
