About the course
Flinders’ Master of Geospatial Information Systems is the only postgraduate GIS stream in South Australia, combining science, computing, data analytics, geography and cartography. You build practical and theoretical capability to capture, analyse and communicate spatially referenced data for real-world applications such as environmental management, urban and regional planning, health and social analysis, and natural resource management. This is a coursework master’s in geospatial information systems.
Career outcome
GIS technologies are used across sectors including agriculture, forestry, mining, environmental management, biodiversity conservation, archaeology, health and social sciences. Graduates may work as geospatial specialists, GIS technicians or data coordinators, geographic analysts, mapping technology officers, remote sensing officers, spatial ecologists or spatial scientists, with roles in government departments, regional development organisations, not-for-profits and private companies.
