About the course
The Fine Art major explores diverse fine art traditions while developing self-discipline, critical reflection and professional artistic practice. You’ll create work that responds to contemporary aesthetic and social contexts and build a portfolio through studio-based learning. Offered within Curtin’s Master of Arts, the major has a strong practical and industry focus, with scope for high achievers to progress to doctoral-level study in visual art at master’s level.
Career outcome
This major supports pathways into professional creative practice as an artist or craftsperson, and can broaden opportunities across visual arts and related creative industries. Graduates may work in independent or collaborative practice, public art, curating and community arts, or apply creative skills in areas such as graphic design, textiles, illustration, web or museum design, theatre, and arts administration within galleries and cultural organisations in the fine art master’s context. Preparing graduates for advanced professional, specialist, and leadership roles in the discipline.
