About the course

The Master of Financial Management is a one-year graduate program designed to prepare students for professional finance roles in global business settings. Taught by academics with strong industry and research experience, the curriculum is shaped with input from finance-sector partners to ensure workplace relevance. The program can also be paired with the Master of Applied Accounting in a double masters pathway.

What you might learn

Students build advanced capabilities in interpreting financial statements, core finance concepts, corporate finance and investment decision-making, supported by quantitative methods in statistics and regression modelling. Elective options allow further depth through areas such as derivatives, international finance, business economics, financial mathematics or an internship. The program emphasises applied skills to analyse data, value assets and inform strategic financial decisions.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for careers across corporate finance, investment analysis and broader financial management roles in business and government. Typical pathways include financial analyst, corporate finance associate, investment or portfolio analyst, risk/treasury roles, and finance-related consulting. The program’s applied focus and optional internship support entry into banking, funds management, financial services, and finance teams in large organisations.

Entry requirements

Applicants must meet ANU’s academic and English requirements and are selected competitively. Entry requires either a bachelor degree in a cognate discipline with minimum GPA 5.0/7.0, or a bachelor degree plus graduate certificate (cognate) with GPA 4.0/7.0, or a graduate diploma (cognate) with GPA 4.0/7.0. Alternatively, 10 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 may be accepted.
