About the course

Deakin’s Master of Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies builds advanced knowledge, research capability and practical experience for work in museums and heritage organisations. You can tailor study towards areas such as exhibitions, collections, heritage sites and Indigenous or intangible cultural heritage, while engaging with contemporary social, environmental and political issues. Work-integrated learning options include applied projects, study intensives and internships in Australia or overseas for master’s-level heritage practice.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for professional roles across museums, galleries and cultural heritage organisations in government, community and private sectors. The course supports pathways into collections and curatorship, exhibition development, heritage practice, interpretation and engagement, and project-based work on cultural sites and significant objects, places and landscapes. Work-integrated learning and internships help build industry experience and networks for master’s-level careers in cultural heritage and museum practice.
