About the course
ECU’s Master of Counselling combines contemporary counselling theory with extensive practical training to prepare you for professional practice across diverse settings. You explore major approaches such as person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and humanistic counselling, alongside specialist areas including youth counselling, mental health, trauma-informed practice and counselling in digital contexts. The course includes 220 hours of supervised placement to build ethical, culturally responsive capability as a Master-level counselling practitioner.
Career outcome
Graduates may work as professional counsellors delivering support to individuals, families and communities across public and private services. Typical employment settings include community and youth services, mental health and wellbeing programs, schools and tertiary providers, family support agencies, workplace wellbeing and employee assistance services, and digital/telehealth counselling contexts.
