About the course
The Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion, offered by the Monash Victorian Heart Institute, equips you with the advanced knowledge and technical skills required to demonstrate clinical competence and certification as a clinical perfusionist with the Australian and New Zealand Board of Perfusionists (ANZBP). Completion of the MCP requires concurrent employment (a minimum 24 hours/week) as a clinical perfusionist throughout the duration of the course. The programme develops advanced clinical reasoning, health leadership, and evidence-based practice for complex care environments.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for advanced practice as clinical perfusionists supporting cardiothoracic surgery and cardiopulmonary life support services. Career pathways include roles in public and private hospitals and specialist cardiac centres, working within multidisciplinary surgical and critical care teams, and contributing to quality improvement and research-informed practice. The course also supports eligibility to pursue professional certification as a clinical perfusionist. It is a Masters programme in Health Sciences.
