About the course
The Master by Research is a higher degree by research where you undertake an independent research project under the guidance of two or more supervisors. You will develop a research proposal, complete required researcher development training and activities aligned with CDU HDR policy, and communicate your findings in a thesis or other approved format. This is a Masters (by research) qualification focused on building advanced research capability across disciplines.

Graduates are prepared for research-focused roles across universities, government and industry, and for progression to doctoral study. You will build skills in research design, ethics and integrity, critical analysis, academic and professional communication, and project management through supervised research and thesis completion. This Masters (by research) supports pathways into research officer, analyst and specialist positions, depending on your research discipline and topic.
