About the course

This Graduate Certificate in Counselling introduces core counselling knowledge and skills for those starting a counselling pathway or adding counselling capability to roles in education, health or human services. You’ll develop professional competence and personal readiness through experiential learning that emphasises the counselling relationship and effective practice. The course can also provide a pathway into further counselling study at Murdoch at postgraduate level in counselling.

Graduates can use introductory counselling skills to support people through challenging circumstances and strengthen practice in existing roles across health, education, social services and business settings. The qualification is also a stepping stone towards further study such as graduate diploma or master-level counselling training, supporting progression toward specialised counselling work in community, education and wellbeing services within the psychology and counselling discipline.
