About the course

This enabling course is a pathway for Indigenous Australian students aiming to progress into Curtin undergraduate science or engineering degrees. You’ll build the academic skills, knowledge and confidence needed for university study, supported by small classes plus mentoring and tutoring through the Centre for Aboriginal Studies. On completion, you may qualify for entry to relevant degrees and possible credit for one unit in your chosen science/engineering pathway. The programme strengthens mathematics, physics, and engineering basics for undergraduate engineering entry.

What you might learn

You’ll develop foundations in mathematics, statistics, physics and chemistry, alongside critical thinking and analytical problem-solving. The course builds skills in using technology to find, interpret and analyse information ethically, and strengthens academic writing, communication and academic integrity. You’ll also develop study and lifelong learning capabilities, teamwork and leadership, and learn to value Aboriginal perspectives, cultural diversity, and international standards in science.

Career outcome

This enabling course supports entry into undergraduate science or engineering study rather than direct employment outcomes. It helps Indigenous Australian students build academic readiness, confidence and foundational STEM capability, with structured support and small-class learning. Graduates can transition into a range of Curtin science and engineering bachelor degrees, creating a platform for future careers across STEM industries, technical roles and further university qualifications in science and engineering. Supporting progression into undergraduate Engineering degree programmes.
