This enabling course helps domestic students strengthen English for university study. You’ll build academic literacy and communication skills across reading, writing, listening and speaking, and learn to use language appropriate to your discipline. The course also supports independent learning strategies and intercultural awareness to prepare you for further study. This is a Foundation-level pathway in English & Modern Languages. The programme develops academic skills and education fundamentals for teaching-related degree pathways.
What you might learn
You’ll develop academic literacy and mediation skills for reading, writing, listening and speaking, and learn to evaluate ideas to build an academic voice. The course builds grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation for accurate, meaningful communication, and introduces discipline-specific study conventions. You’ll also reflect on learning to build autonomous strategies, engage with global issues, and value diverse cultural and linguistic perspectives, including Indigenous Australian perspectives.
