About the course
Build on existing youth work skills with a practical diploma focused on supporting young people and communities. You’ll develop capabilities to plan and deliver youth programs, work safely and ethically with diverse clients, and collaborate with services across mental health, housing, family support and justice contexts. Study is delivered on campus at RMIT’s Melbourne City location. This is a Diploma qualification in youth and community services practice. The programme introduces counselling basics, community support skills, and behavioural science fundamentals.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles in youth and community services where they coordinate and deliver programs for young people in education, community organisations and government agencies. Typical pathways include youth program management and coordination, youth services coordination, youth housing support, community development, and roles spanning youth mental health, family services and juvenile justice settings. This Diploma supports entry into operational youth work and progression to supervisory roles in social services.
