About the course
This diploma builds a foundation in social sciences while developing academic literacy, research capability and discipline-specific skills for further study. You’ll be supported by the Pathways team and can gain guaranteed entry into selected degrees, with potential credit toward an undergraduate program such as the Bachelor of Social Science. It is designed as a Diploma in Sociology & Social Work preparation pathway. The programme introduces counselling basics, community support skills, and behavioural science fundamentals.

The diploma can help you enter or progress in roles across community and human services settings, including health care and social assistance, education and training, and government/public administration. It supports pathways into work involving advocacy, family and social services, public health and community support, and also prepares you for further study toward professional roles such as social worker, counsellor or welfare officer in Sociology & Social Work. Preparing graduates for community support, welfare assistant, and care coordination roles, or degree articulation.
