About the course
The Diploma of Science is an 11-month pathway program delivered by UNSW College that builds core first-year science knowledge and study skills to support progression into UNSW undergraduate degrees. You can choose a stream in Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences or Biological and Medical Sciences, aligned to first-year requirements for a range of Bachelor of Science majors. This diploma provides credit and a supported transition into science study at UNSW Sydney. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.
Career outcome
This diploma is designed primarily as a pathway into UNSW undergraduate science rather than a standalone professional qualification. Completing it can help you progress into a Bachelor of Science and then pursue careers in laboratory and field sciences, data and analytical roles, health and medical research support, environmental and sustainability work, or science-related industry and government roles. Outcomes depend on the major you progress to after this Diploma-level science pathway.
