About the course
This postgraduate specialisation introduces petroleum engineering for students from other disciplines, focusing on how engineers evaluate reservoirs and design, test and implement efficient methods to extract oil and gas. It builds content knowledge in key petroleum engineering areas and provides a pathway for eligible graduates into Curtin’s Master of Professional Engineering in Petroleum Engineering or Subsea Engineering. This is a Graduate Diploma level specialisation in engineering.
Career outcome
Graduates can use this specialisation to support entry into a professional engineering master’s pathway and move toward roles across the oil and gas and offshore energy sectors. Typical career directions include reservoir and production support, drilling and well engineering assistance, field development planning support, and technical roles with operators, service companies, consultancies and regulators. This is a Graduate Diploma level specialisation preparing for advanced petroleum engineering study.
