About the course
The Diploma of Nature-Based Guiding blends academic learning with hands-on field experiences in Tasmania’s diverse natural environments. You’ll build practical guiding and leadership capability through immersive outdoor activities while developing understanding of people–place connections and sustainability. Designed for those passionate about the outdoors, it supports career progression or a pathway into environment and outdoor-related work through an undergraduate-level Environmental Science diploma.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles in outdoor education and nature-based tourism, supporting or leading guided activities such as hiking and paddling experiences, and contributing to environmentally responsible visitor experiences. The course can also support progression into broader environment-focused work where field skills, safety awareness, and communication with diverse groups are valued. Outcomes align with entry-level roles linked to an Environmental Science diploma in nature-based guiding.
