About the course
The Diploma of Language Studies is a flexible program that lets you build practical language capability alongside cultural and linguistic understanding. You can study one language in depth or combine multiple languages, and complete the course full-time in one year or spread it part-time to suit work or other study. It supports beginners through to advanced learners and can be taken during or after a degree in English & Modern Languages. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.
Career outcome
Graduates can use added language proficiency to strengthen employability across international and multicultural settings. The diploma supports pathways into roles where communication and cultural literacy matter, such as business and trade, government and diplomacy, education, tourism, community services, and international organisations. It can also complement another degree by adding specialised language capability for work in English & Modern Languages. Preparing graduates for teacher aide, early childhood support, and education assistant roles, or degree articulation.
