About the course
This diploma develops the practical language and communication skills needed to interpret spoken conversations in professional settings. You’ll learn from industry-experienced educators and build capability in interpreting techniques, ethics and professional practice through applied training. The program is delivered on campus at RMIT’s Melbourne City location and is designed for vocational learners preparing for interpreter work in community and organisational contexts. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue entry-level opportunities as spoken-language interpreters in community, government and service environments, supporting communication between English and another language. Work may include on-site interpreting for client interviews, appointments and meetings, as well as assignment-based interpreting through agencies. This Diploma in English & Modern Languages can support pathways into further interpreting and translating study or related language-services roles.
