About the course

The Diploma in Information Technology prepares students for entry-level roles or further study in the IT sector. It is designed as a pathway with lower entry requirements than a bachelor degree and can provide credit towards up to the first year of ACU IT bachelor programs, with the option to exit as a standalone diploma. Students benefit from smaller classes, tailored transition support and access to university services in a Diploma-level IT & Computer Science program. The programme delivers hands-on programming, networking, and technical support skills for IT employment.

Career outcome

Graduates gain foundational skills for junior roles supporting business and technology needs, with exposure to core IT areas such as programming, data management and cyber security concepts. The diploma can also be used as a stepping-stone into the second year of selected ACU IT bachelor degrees. Career directions may include entry-level IT support, junior developer assistance, data administration support or trainee cyber/security support roles in a Diploma-level IT & Computer Science pathway.
