About the course
Deakin’s Diploma of Indonesian builds practical language proficiency while deepening understanding of Indonesia’s diverse cultures and ways of life. You can enter as a beginner or with prior Year 12 (or equivalent) study, and develop transferable communication skills valued across many fields. The course also offers opportunities for in-country study and internships, supported by travel grants, to apply learning in real-world contexts in Indonesia. This is a Diploma in modern languages.
Career outcome
Graduates can use Indonesian language and intercultural skills to support work and study connected to Australia–Indonesia engagement. Opportunities may arise in areas such as business, education, tourism, cultural organisations, community services, and government or international-facing roles where communication with Indonesian speakers is valuable. The diploma can also complement another degree to strengthen employability for roles involving regional collaboration and cross-cultural communication. This is a Diploma in modern languages.
