About the course
This Diploma introduces you to engineering fundamentals and provides a supported pathway into further university study. You’ll build core knowledge across systems design, mathematics, communication and professional ethics, while studying in Western’s modular learning model focused on one subject at a time. On successful completion, you can transition into second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). This is a Diploma-level pathway in engineering. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates gain foundational engineering knowledge and study skills that support entry into further engineering education or junior roles in technical environments. The program builds capability in mathematics, problem solving, communication and ethical practice, helping prepare you for work in engineering-related industries while you continue your qualification. It is designed primarily as a Diploma pathway leading into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in engineering.
