About the course

The Diploma of Educational Studies is a flexible one-year qualification that builds foundational knowledge and practical skills for work and further study in education. It prepares you for roles across school-age support, out-of-school-hours and vacation care, and community-based learning settings. The course emphasises supporting learners with diverse needs, including in remote, regional and First Nations contexts, through a Diploma-level pathway in education support. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.

Career outcome

Graduates may seek work in education and community settings, depending on state and territory requirements. Typical roles include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Education Worker, language and culture or homeland teaching assistant, teacher aide/classroom assistant, and education assistant supporting special needs and inclusion. You may also work in out-of-school-hours and vacation care programs as a support worker, aligned to Diploma-level careers in education support.
