About the course
This course prepares registered nurses and midwives to practise as Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nurses in community settings, working in partnership with families from birth to school age. You’ll build advanced primary healthcare and community child and family health nursing capabilities, combining theory with professional practice. The program includes at least 300 hours of community-based placements, including specialist settings such as early parenting and childcare centres. This is a Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
Career outcome
Graduates strengthen their professional standing and develop advanced skills for leadership within nursing practice and knowledge communities. The course supports pathways into community-based Maternal and Child Health services, with roles focused on supporting families and children from birth to school age and applying primary healthcare principles in local government and community health contexts. A typical outcome is employment as a child and family health nurse in community and specialist early-years services. This is a Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
