About the course
The Graduate Diploma of Applied Pastoral Theology builds theological foundations and practical capability for pastoral care, particularly in faith-based and healthcare contexts. You will study core topics in pastoral theology and bioethics within the Catholic tradition, then tailor learning through electives across counselling, philosophy, theology and selected business options. The qualification is designed for working professionals studying part-time in theology-focused postgraduate training.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply advanced pastoral-care knowledge and ethical decision-making in faith-based and community settings, especially healthcare organisations. The program supports development toward roles involving chaplaincy and pastoral support, spiritual care coordination, mission and formation work, and wellbeing-focused leadership responsibilities. It also complements professionals in counselling-adjacent or people-facing roles who need theological grounding for practice. This is a Graduate Diploma in applied pastoral theology within Arts & Humanities.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet the University’s minimum admission requirements and be currently employed or have past experience in a field of pastoral practice.
