About the course
This clinically focused Graduate Diploma supports multidisciplinary clinicians to specialise in person-centred diabetes care and education. You’ll build in-depth knowledge of diabetes management, complications and assessment, and learn how to support and educate people living with diabetes to optimise their health. The program is delivered mainly online and includes a compulsory one-week face-to-face clinical skills workshop plus 40 hours of clinical practicum as part of graduate-level health training.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue diverse roles across primary, secondary and tertiary health services, community health settings and private practice, supporting diabetes management and education. Those without a health professional background may find opportunities in research, health promotion and the pharmaceutical industry. Eligible registered health professionals may apply to become a Credentialled Diabetes Educator through the Australian Diabetes Educators Association, supporting advanced practice pathways in diabetes care at graduate diploma level.
