About the course
This Graduate Diploma supports registered nurses transitioning into midwifery practice and prepares graduates for midwife registration in Australia. You will study midwifery foundations, cultural perspectives, complex care and therapeutics, and develop clinical capability through continuity-of-care experiences, supporting women across pregnancy and birth. The course is delivered part-time and includes structured learning aligned to an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to practise as entry-level midwives (subject to registration requirements) across maternity and women’s health services. Career opportunities include roles in public and private hospitals, maternity wards, birth centres, antenatal and postnatal care, and continuity-of-care models working with women and families. This Graduate Diploma in Nursing-focused midwifery practice supports progression into specialised maternity care pathways and professional development.
