About the course
This Graduate Diploma in Counselling develops advanced relational counselling skills for people working in helping professions. You’ll explore what supports effective counsellor–client relationships, ethical practice and contemporary approaches to counselling, with an emphasis on creating a therapeutic environment rather than relying only on techniques. The course includes a supervised field placement and on-campus learning to build practical capability in counselling practice at graduate diploma level in psychology.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue counselling and support roles across community and health-related settings. Potential pathways include family support work, addiction counselling support, relationship counselling support and roles in women’s health services. The qualification also supports those already in helping professions to extend their counselling capability through supervised placement experience and evidence-informed practice, preparing you for counselling-related careers in psychology-focused community and wellbeing contexts.
