About the course
This Undergraduate Certificate introduces animal ecology through the study of wildlife in natural habitats and the ecological pressures shaping species and ecosystems. You’ll explore biodiversity, conservation, human–animal interactions, and the impacts of environmental change, with examples spanning marine and terrestrial animals such as sharks, birds, turtles and whales. The program also provides a pathway (subject to meeting criteria) into the Bachelor of Animal Ecology.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue entry-level roles supporting wildlife and environmental work across government, NGOs and private organisations. Potential pathways include environmental monitoring and management, wildlife conservation and management, ranger work, museum collection and curation support, environmental education, ecotourism guiding, and private environmental consulting assistance. The certificate can also support progression to further study toward specialist roles in animal ecology and research-focused careers.
