About the course
This qualification supports an apprenticeship pathway to become a trade-recognised fitter or turner. You’ll build practical capability in manufacturing, repairing and replacing engineering components for machinery, including maintenance, modifications and safe use of specialist tools and equipment. The course focuses on real workshop skills needed across maintenance and production environments, at Certificate III level in mechanical engineering trades. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue trade roles such as fitter and turner, working on the manufacture, repair and modification of mechanical components and machinery. Employment may be found in maintenance and production settings across industries that use plant and equipment, including heavy industry and infrastructure-related operations. Completion supports progression to trade qualification and ongoing development as a Certificate III mechanical engineering trades worker. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
