About the course
This hands-on apprenticeship qualification builds your skills to work as a qualified bricklayer or blocklayer in the construction industry. You develop and apply workplace skills using clay, concrete, masonry and related materials to construct veneer and full brick structures such as walls, partitions, arches, steps and stairs, including curved and decorative brickwork. This is a Certificate III trade course in bricklaying and blocklaying within building and construction. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates may work in residential and commercial construction as a bricklayer or blocklayer, completing brick and block structures and associated features on-site. Typical work includes building and repairing walls, partitions, arches, stairs and decorative elements using a range of masonry materials. Opportunities are commonly with building contractors, construction firms or as part of a trade team. This Certificate III supports employment in the building trades (bricklaying/blocklaying).
