About the course
This practical qualification prepares you to become a qualified automotive electrician. You’ll build core skills to service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components across a range of vehicles, supported by industry-expert teachers. Training covers fault-finding and installation/repair of wiring and lighting, ignition, instruments and warning systems, plus relevant petrol and diesel engine operating knowledge. It leads to recognition as an automotive electrical tradesperson in automotive service and repair.
Career outcome
Graduates can work in the automotive electrical service and repair industry supporting vehicle diagnosis, maintenance and installation of electrical systems. Typical roles include automotive electrical technician/automotive electrician in workshops, dealerships, fleet maintenance and specialist auto-electrical businesses. The Certificate III level trade outcome supports employment servicing modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems and progression within the automotive electrical discipline.
