This entry-level qualification prepares you to start working with animals and build core practical skills for day-to-day animal care. You’ll learn routines for handling, caring for and supporting the wellbeing of animals in a range of settings, with a pathway to further study in specialised areas. This is a Certificate III course focused on animal care services within veterinary-related industries. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue entry-level roles supporting animal care and welfare in settings such as shelters, boarding facilities, pet services and animal-related organisations. The course builds skills for assisting with animal handling, basic husbandry and workplace procedures, supporting progression into further training for more specialised animal care work. This is a Certificate III qualification leading to roles in the animal care services sector. Preparing graduates for laboratory assistant, quality control, and science technician roles, or degree articulation.
